Fanduel All Star Team

It is easy to get caught up in the fantasy sports world and lose touch of what is actually happening in the real sports world. I decided to see what the All Star teams would look like if they were chosen strictly on the number of Fanduel points earned so far this year. Below would be the starting lineups chosen by selecting the point leader for each position.

American League (2,639 total points)

Pitcher- Felix Hernandez (308)
Catcher- Victor Martinez (268)
First Base- Jose Abreu (296)
Second Base- Brian Dozier (292)
Third Base- Josh Donaldson (270)
Shortstop- Erick Aybar (222)
Out Field- Mike Trout (364) Nelson Cruz (314) Michael Brantley (305)

National League (2735 total points)

Pitcher- Johnny Cueto (291)
Catcher- Jonathan Lucroy (245)
First Base- Paul Goldschmidt (336)
Second Base- Anthony Rendon (281)
Third Base- Todd Frazier (291)
Shortstop- Troy Tulowitizki (317)
Out Field- Andrew McCutchen (353) Giancarlo Stanton (327) Carlos Gomez (294)

Angels win by 2 touchdowns!!!

What a night last night!! It was almost impossible to beat anyone who stacked the top of the Angels batting order. The top four batters in the lineup scored a total of 40.5 points on Fanduel.  Kole Calhoun started the night with an inside the park little league homerun, and the points did not slow down the rest of the game. Kershaw throws another complete game while striking out 11. His salary was 12K this start, but that is sure to rise before he pitches again.  He was almost 60% owned last night in the Bunt.

Who stands out tonight??

F. Hernandez- Play him in cash games, your opponent probably is..

J. Hahn- Has more K/9 than anyone playing tonight. San Diego has trouble scoring, but they face D. Haren tonight. Haren gives up 1.5 HR/9 and has an ERA over 4.00. Even the Padres should be able to score on him.

G. Richards- He has great numbers, and facing a Texas pitcher other than Yu Darvish. He should easily get the win.

C. Kluber- Money line of -220, and O/U of 7.5. Sign me up!! He also strikes out more than a batter per inning, and has xFIP under 3.00.

Pitchers to stack against!

M. Gonzalez- The Yanks should be able to score tonight. xFIP over 5.00, and BABIP of almost .400.

N. Tepesch- Pitches for Texas and last name is not Darvish

M. Bolsinger- xFip suggest he is not that bad, but he has not proven it yet. He has an ERA over 5.00.

Keep an eye on the Minnesota at Colorado game. Rain is in the forcast.

The Lineup Builder is predicting 60 point last 15 game default lineup. It should be a high scoring night again!

Will Beeler Perform???

Tonight’s games are full of options at the pitcher position.  The normal selections are available, but D. Beeler is the one that is the most intriguing. With such a small sample size he makes an extremely risky play. His salary today is only 3000.00 on Fanduel. At that price I have to play at least one lineup with him in it. He has a respectable xFIP of 3.04, and has struck out a batter per inning so far.  The Lineup Builder is picking him in the default average lineup.

On the other side of the plate Milwaukee defiantly looks like the team to stack. R. Hernandez has not been very effective with an ERA around 4.50 and an xFIP to match. Throwing in a hitters park tonight Milwaukee should be able to score.

Back to the Grind

S. Strasburg- I really like this play today. He has shown the ability to get a few more strikeouts per game than A. Wainwright. I could easily see these two being the highest owned in cash games.  H. Iwakuma should also be considered in this group. He is heavily favored to win in a low scoring game.  His K/9 is just below 7 which will lower his ceiling a bit.

If the plan today is to save at the pitching position a couple guys to consider are J. Odorizzi and J. Chavez.  Chavez has a better chance of getting the victory, but Odorizzi has the potential to provide strikeouts. He averages more than 10 K/9. These two plays are around the 7K range in Fanduel today.

Four games today have an O/U of 10 runs or more (MIA/ARI, SD/COL, HOU/TEX, and ChW/BOS).  Get ready for a high scoring night!!

Sunday Funday!!!

As the long weekend comes to an end we have every team in play today. With 30 pitchers to choose from there are many to pick from. A few stand out from the pack..

Jesse Hahn- He has been fantastic so far this season. He leads all of the pitchers playing today in K/9. He also has an ERA below 2.00 with a low xFIP to match of around 2.50.

Jake Arrieta- Even though he is not projected to get the win today he has pitched very well. He Ks more than 10 batters per 9, and has the lowest xFIP of 2.50 today.

Stack the Balt/Bos game!!! Over/Under of 9... Kevin Gausman and Jake Peavy face each other. Both have struggled in strike out, and allowing runs.

4th of July Eve!

Avoid Balt/TX game!!! 90% chance of heavy storms throughout the night.  It looks like a short slate will become even shorter.  That means Y. Darvish is off of the table, and that leaves M. Tanaka and M. Scherzer as the two top options. It is tough to pull the trigger on any pitcher playing at Coors Field. That makes Z. Greinke a little less attractive for this match-up. With M. Tanaka being so highly owned a sneaky contrarian ggp play could be P. Hughes.  He has a FIP of around 2.50, and WAR just about 3. With the potential of such a large overlap it will take some risk to separate in gpp contest.

Night Games 7/2/2014

There are not very many options to pick from tonight with so many games being played during the day.  A. Wainwright, C. Hamels, and J. Teheran easily stand out as the top 3 plays. I can easily see Hamels being the highest scoring pitcher tonight with a price of 2K less than Wainwright. Teheran is heavily favored to get the victory, and should be a very safe play. The punt play of the day is T. Skaggs. I think he could reach double digit points, and will only cost you 6100.00.

Stack the Angels and Pirates today.  J. Danks will not be able to contain the Angels lineup!!

Pitchers for the 1st of July

Today’s slate is filled with many pitching options. Stephen Strasburg and David Price have great numbers, but they also have the high price tag to match. A few other pitchers stand out as plays that should reach value with a lower sticker price.

Ian Kennedy- His K/9 is just below 10, and has a xFIP of around 3.00. He is defiantly worth consideration today.

Mike Minor- His numbers a similar to Kennedy’s, and is projected to get the win.

Pitchers to stack against:

Nick Martinez- His K/9 is only 4. He has an xFIP of almost 6.00. Expect the same as last night from Baltimore. The bird may even get a HR tonight!

Scott Carroll- His numbers are similar Martinez. Stack the Angels!!

Watch the AZ/Pit and KC/Min games closely. Both have bad weather in the forecast.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

J. Hahn- Has the highest K/9 ratio of all of the starters today. His xFIP is just over 2.60. He should easily create cap space for higher priced outfielders.

J. Arrieta- He has been throwing the ball very well so far. He strikes out around 10 K/9, and has a low xFIP of around 2.60.

C. Kluber – The number are very close to the two pitchers mentioned above. Cleveland is slightly favored to win in a low scoring game.

J. Peavy – Boston is projected to get the win, but Peavy has been terrible.

U. Jimenez – Has an xFIP over 4 and K/9 fewer than 8. The over/under is projected close to 10.

J. Saunders-  xFIP over 5.00!! He faces Jimenez tonight in a game that should produce a lot of offence. Give me all of Orioles outfielders tonight!
